Cramps, shin splints, and chest pain: what to do when running hurts

While it is important to stay active and exercise routinely, staying healthy overall is always the priority. They always say you need to "push through the pain" to improve physically, but this is not always the case.


Returning to exercise following a long break will certainly come with some cons, including a higher possibility of cramps and chest pain. This is normal and demonstrates the importance of easing back into rhythm before more intense exercise. Intense pain could occur otherwise in the form of shin splints, which would require rest and icing before returning to intense physical activity.
